In honor of Halloween this week, I’m sorry, I tricked ya. I’m not really going to tell you exactly what to eat, but I am going to tell you why I don’t tell you.

My clients want me to share what I eat each day, I don’t.  They want to know exactly HOW to lose weight. It is not done on purpose, but this request is often a desire to transfer the responsibility for their weight loss from them to me.  If I tell them what to eat and they do it, and then, if they don’t lose weight, it’s my fault, not theirs.  “This doesn’t work, I quit”.

I do give broad eating guidelines and the science behind those guidelines, but not specifics.  I sometimes help my clients tweak their plan and give suggestions, but usually after they have tried their plan without success or if they have reached a plateau.

My most successful clients who have lost a lot of weight, and continue to keep it off have done so because they have created a plan that fits their lifestyle, their desires, and their preferences.

They know that failures are part of it.

They don’t quit.

We want it to be easy, but it just isn’t.

The ‘how to do it’ comes from trying and failing, then trying something else until you figure out what YOU should eat to feel good and get you to the weight you want to be.

When you figure it out for yourself, you own it, it’s yours, and it is a perfect plan for you.
