Are you afraid of being hungry?
Do you think that if you are hungry, you might be mean to people? Are you scared that your hunger will be debilitating? Do you pre-eat to prevent potential hunger?
Do you even remember what it feels like to be hungry?
Okay, I am not talking about some crazy starvation situation here. If you are familiar with me, you know that anything extreme – any plan that can’t be sustained – is not an option for me or my clients. But, if you are trying to lose weight, it is okay to be a little uncomfortable sometimes!
Be willing to experience the feeling of hunger. What is the rush to get rid of it? Don’t be afraid, hunger is just a physical sensation – it is not your body shutting down. We sometimes make it into a dramatic emotional event. But really, it’s going to be alright.
Also, good news! Our bodies have fuel stored just for this hunger event.
When our body realizes it’s not going to get food, it will utilize our fat stores for energy. Yay! Isn’t this the goal?!
Give it a chance to do just that sometimes, and you might just be pleased with the results.
