A couple of weeks ago a study was completed and was publicly released by Italy’s health officials.  The study found that more than 99 percent of those who died in Italy from COVID-19 had pre-existing medical conditions.

The three most common medical conditions were high blood pressure (75 percent), Diabetes (35 percent) and heart disease (33 percent).

Nearly half of those in the study (48.5 percent) had three or more pre-existing conditions.

This seems like a giant wake-up call.  Being healthy matters.  Way beyond being in a smaller dress size.  Many of the medical conditions these people in Italy had were possibly preventable by lifestyle choices.

While there are many unknowns about this virus and why some people are affected more than others, I think we should stop and think about how this adversity could help us grow.

This will probably not be the last time we will face a contagious illness.  Let’s use this moment to commit to improving our health and boosting our immunity.

How could we come out of this stronger?

1 Peter 5:10  “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
