Do you know the only thing that will keep you from your goal?

Quitting! Quitting is the only thing that will keep you from achieving your goal!  If you never quit, you will get there.  It may not be exactly when you thought you would, but you will.

I love the quote, “It’s a slow process, but quitting won’t speed it up”.

If you’re quitting something, that means that you committed to something, and that’s a fantastic first step.  If you don’t ever make a commitment, you actually are making a commitment – to stay the same.  (Let than sink in – you might have to read it again.)

For many of us, quitting is a habit that we have practiced for a long time.  Remember that we get good at what we practice

Another habit that we have probably practiced is justifying our quitting.  This is where we plug in all our well-practiced excuses.  “I’m just too busy to think about this right now”, “I’m too tired”, “It’s too complicated”, “I’m too confused”, “It was the holidays”, “I was traveling”, or “I didn’t have control over my food”.

Often our real reason for quitting is because we don’t want to fail one more time.  Isn’t it ironic – quitting guarantees that we will fail.

Quitting does often allow a moment of relief.  When you give in and decide to not stick to your plan, it momentarily feels great.

Take a minute and see if you are in this quitting cycle:

– you feel bad about your weight and not having a commitment

– you make a commitment

– the commitment makes you feel bad, so you quit

Then:

– you feel bad about your weight and not having a commitment

– you make a commitment

– the commitment makes you feel bad, so you quit

Yikes!  We don’t want to feel the uncomfortable feeling of not committing or the uncomfortable feeling of committing.

If you recognize this cycle, pay attention and try strengthening your commitment by taking quitting out of the possibilities.

When you are truly committed, quitting is not even an option.

TRUTH:

Galatians 6:9   Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
